Priapus Shot®

Overview
Priapus Shot® is a penile injection in which growth factors derived from platelets, a component of your blood, are used to heal and revitalize the tissues of the penis. The growth factors are derived from PRP, Platelet Rich Plasma.
PRP is being considered for many diseases or health conditions that require healing–NEW TISSUE GROWTH–that’s what healing is. Erectile dysfunction is one of these.

The blood is drawn as in any regular blood draw, then the blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate the components of the blood, red blood cells, RBC, at the bottom of the tube, white blood cells, WBC, and platelets in the next layer and plasma at the top. The WBC and platelet layer and the plasma immediately above them is the portion used for the injection. This fraction contains the highest concentration of platelets and therefore growth factor.

The growth factor in this fraction then stimulates the stem cells in the injected tissue to grow into new cells to heal the tissue and improve its function. In this case the penis.

PRP is also used in other tissues, in women it can be used to rejuvenate the tissues and address some of the health and psychological issues associated with loss of tone and optimal sexual functioning and to reduce stress related urine leakage.

It is used in the face to help reduce some of the ravages of time and the environment and in the joints to repair damaged tissues.

In summary, the growth factors obtained from your blood are concentrated and reinjected into the parts that need to be repaired or revitalized.

As early as 2003, an article out of Boston in the Journal of Urology (J Urol 2003), discussing new therapies for erectile dysfunction, suggested that neovascularization using vascular growth factors has been recently demonstrated to be feasible in animal models.” Translation: If you inject growth factors into an animal’s penis, then it grows new blood vessels and new tissue and gets a bigger harder penis. So, 10 years ago, this was suggested as a possibility for people-animals. PRFM (Platelet Rich Firbrin Matrix) is a way of supplying those growth factors.

The University of California conducted lab studies in rats in 2010. The results were “improve[d] erectile function and alter[ed] micro architecture of the corpus cavernosum, the erectile tissue of the penis, with an “increase in the number of endothelial cells” in the corpus cavernosum. Translation: the rats had a harder penis with more tissue–harder and bigger!
In this study they thought the growth factors in the fat are what caused the improvement. These are the same types of growth factors found in huge quantities in the PRP, i.e. platelet rich plasma.
